We've got something for everyone too, from a range of spice levels as well as meals to suit meat eaters, vegan and vegetarian diet. Take a look at these three; we can't promise you won't feel hungry after reading this :)

Desi Jalfrezi Slow Cooked Beef (serves 4)

Jalfrezi is the perfect choice for those of us who love a bit of spice and the green pepper in this curry pairs exceptionally well with beef. All you need is:

  • 500g diced beef

  • 1 tin of chopped tomatoes

  • 1 onion

  • 1 green pepper

  • Coriander (optional, substitute with parsley if you prefer)

  • Jalfrezi desi curry kit (buy yours here)

  • A few tablespoons of yoghurt

Method

For the first three steps, all you need to do is follow the instructions on the back of your Desi curry kit. Add sauté onion, gently heat and cook for 2-3 minutes. Then add garlic and ginger paste and sauté for a further 2-3 minutes. Add the Desi Jalfrezi spice pack to the pan, mix it in with the rest of the ingredients. All of this is included in your curry kit!

Now we move on to our main ingredients. Add 500g of diced beef to the spices, sauté onion, garlic and ginger and stir in well. Next, add chopped tomatoes and water and place everything in a pre-heated oven at 120 °C for 3 hours. Don’t forget to stir every 30 minutes!

Once the curry is close to done, chop the onion and green pepper into large chunks and add into the dish 30 minutes before serving.

To serve

Chop up coriander or parsley and dollop some yoghurt on top of the curry. For sides, you can add rice, garlic and herb naan bread as well as a fresh salad. Enjoy!

Desi Halloumi Saag (serves 4)

Who doesn’t love a bit of halloumi? For a lighter take on our Desi curry kits, try this vibrant, delicious curry feast. The peppery flavours of Saag pair so well with the greens and mushrooms add a meaty texture to this veggie curry. Here’s what you need:

  • 1 tin chopped tomatoes

  • A few tablespoons of yoghurt

  • 250g chestnut mushrooms

  • 240g sliced spring greens

  • 1 pack of halloumi cheese

Method

Again, for the first three steps, all you need to do is follow the instructions on the back of our curry kits, using ingredients that are already included. Add sauté onion, gently heat and cook for 2-3 minutes. Then add garlic and ginger paste and sauté for a further 2-3 minutes. Add the Desi spice pack to the pan, mix it in with the rest of the ingredients.

Then add your sliced chestnut mushrooms and cook for around 2 minutes. Add the spring greens, cook for a further two minutes, add the chopped tomatoes and water and let simmer until the greens are cooked. Then, add a few tablespoons of yoghurt just before serving. When the curry is nearly done, fry or grill strips of halloumi and serve alongside the main dish.

To serve

This curry goes incredibly well with some warm naan bread, especially, garlic or kulcha naan. Since it’s quite light and low calorie, you can add extra sides like bhajis, pakoras or samosas for a truly delicious curry feast.

Desi Tikka Homemade Dal – our take on this classic dish (Serves 4)

Many people are changing their diets to be more plant-based, so if that’s your dad, surprise him with this vegan curry feast! It packs plenty of flavour and it’s very filling thanks to the coconut milk, green lentils and chickpeas used in the recipe. Here are your ingredients:

  • Desi Tikka curry kit

  • One tin of green lentils, drained

  • One tin of chickpeas, drained

  • One tin of coconut milk

  • Coriander (optional, substitute with parsley if you prefer)

Method

You guessed it – follow the first three steps on the back of your curry kit. Add sauté onion, gently heat and cook for 2-3 minutes. Then add garlic and ginger paste and sauté for a further 2-3 minutes. Add the Desi Tikka spice pack to the pan, mix it in with the rest of the ingredients.

All that’s left to do is chuck in the rest of the ingredients – lentils, chickpeas and coconut milk – and cook for further 15 minutes. Absolutely fool proof!

To serve

Once the curry is ready, top it with your freshly chopped herbs and serve alongside some peshwari naan breads. They will go amazingly well with the coconut flavours of this curry!
